Arsonist Arrested for Intentionally Starting Wildfires in Rapides and Vernon Parishes

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) has determined that multiple wildfires near Union Hill in southwest Rapides Parish on August 24, 2023, were caused by arson. The LDAF, Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office are actively investigating the incident and urging anyone with information to come forward. Anonymous tips can be provided to the LDAF hotline, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, or the State Fire Marshal’s Office, with a cash reward of up to $2,000 being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the responsible person(s).
