Brevard Deputies Fatally Shoot Gunman After Pursuit.

A man identified as Richard Ruiz led Brevard County deputies on a pursuit, crashed due to a PIT maneuver on State Road 528, and died in a deputy-involved shooting. Ruiz was allegedly prohibited from being within 500 feet of Sunset Bay Apartments due to a past domestic violence case. He was armed with a loaded handgun and reportedly refused to comply with lawful instructions before driving away in a pickup truck. The pickup rolled over and came to rest on its side after the PIT maneuver, and Ruiz fired at least one shot from inside the truck before being incapacitated by deputies. The incident is under investigation, and the deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave.
