California DOJ and National Guard's Ongoing Efforts to Combat Fentanyl Crisis in San Francisco

The California Highway Patrol and the California National Guard will assist the San Francisco Police Department in combating the city's fentanyl crisis, with troopers patrolling high-crime areas alongside city police. The National Guard will provide support in the background, with 14 criminal analysts focused on disrupting drug rings and stymieing the flow of illegal drugs into San Francisco. The joint partnership was arranged by Governor Gavin Newsom at the request of San Francisco Mayor London Breed, who toured the Tenderloin with the governor and state Attorney General Rob Bonta earlier this month.
