California YouTuber sentenced to prison for staging plane crash

California YouTuber Trevor Daniel Jacob has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for lying to federal authorities during an investigation into an airplane crash he intentionally caused for a YouTube video. Jacob, a former Olympic snowboarder, filmed the stunt to promote a sponsored wallet. After parachuting out of the plane, he hiked to the crash site and later cut up the wreckage and disposed of it. Multiple federal agencies were involved in the investigation.
