Capitol Rioter Sentenced to Over 7 Years in Prison for Assaulting Police

Kyle Fitzsimons, a participant in the U.S. Capitol riot, has been sentenced to over seven years in prison for attacking police officers during the Jan. 6 attack. Fitzsimons, who wore a butcher's coat during the assault, threw a bow like a spear at police and attacked several other officers. He was convicted of 11 charges related to the riot and apologized for his actions. Fitzsimons is among over 1,000 people charged in connection with the riot, with more than 560 people sentenced so far. The longest sentence handed down is 18 years for Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes.
