Anderson Aldrich, the Colorado shooter who killed five people at an LGBTQ+ nightclub, plans to plead guilty to new federal hate crime and firearm charges to avoid the death penalty. The plea agreement includes 50 hate crime charges and 24 firearm violations, with Aldrich facing multiple life sentences on top of a 190-year sentence. The shooting, which occurred in November 2022, was described as a hate crime by a survivor who was shot nine times. The defendant had previously pleaded guilty to state charges and was sentenced to life in prison.
