Codefendant and Assistant Director in "Rust" Movie Shooting Receive Probation on Gun Charges

David Halls, a safety coordinator and assistant director on the set of the movie "Rust," has been convicted of unsafe handling of a firearm and sentenced to six months of probation, a $500 fine, a gun-safety course, and 24 hours of community service. Halls was a codefendant in the case against actor Alec Baldwin and movie armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who have pleaded not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Halls agreed to testify truthfully at any upcoming hearings or trials.
