DC Police Officer Accused of Aiding Proud Boys Leader

A DC police lieutenant, Shane Lamond, has been charged with obstruction of justice and making false statements for allegedly leaking information to then-Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio. Lamond is accused of obstructing the government's investigation into Tarrio's burning of a Black Lives Matter flag in December 2020 by telling him law enforcement had a warrant out for his arrest. Lamond is also alleged to have given confidential law enforcement information to Tarrio that was passed along to other Proud Boys members. Lamond has been put on administrative leave and the department is conducting an internal investigation.
