Delaware State Trooper Faces Indictment for Violent Assault on Teens in Doorbell Prank Incident

A Delaware State Trooper, Dempsey Walters, has been indicted on charges of felony deprivation of civil rights and felony assault, along with four misdemeanor charges, after physically confronting and assaulting two teenagers during an arrest following a doorbell prank. Walters, caught on body camera, was seen punching one of the minors in the face while they were in a squad car. State Attorney General Kathy Jennings condemned Walters' actions as his "own form of personal justice" and vowed that he would face criminal consequences. The trooper's girlfriend had given him a description of the prankster, leading to the confrontation. Walters has been suspended without pay.
