Derrick Thompson, son of former state Rep. John Thompson, has been charged with 10 counts of criminal vehicular homicide, including five counts of operating a motor vehicle in a grossly negligent manner and five counts of leaving the scene, after a fatal crash that killed five women in Minneapolis. Thompson was also charged in federal court for possession of a firearm as a felon, possession of fentanyl, and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime. He has a history of traffic violations and was previously sentenced to eight years in prison for crashing into a pedestrian in California.
