False Reports of Active Shooters at Rockford and Freeport Schools

Multiple Illinois schools received false reports of shootings, known as "swatting" calls, causing police to respond to the scenes. No injuries were reported and the reports were determined to be false. Students were placed on lockdown as a precaution. Classes were canceled for the day at East High School, where the incident was reported, and juniors will have a makeup day for SATs. Similar reports were made at several other Illinois high schools.
