Family demands change after inmate allegedly eaten alive by bed bugs in Fulton County Jail.

The family of Lashawn Thompson, who died in the Fulton County Jail, is calling for a criminal investigation and a new jail to be built after claiming he was eaten alive by bed bugs and insects in his cell. Thompson was diagnosed with schizophrenia but was physically healthy when he was booked into jail. The medical examiner reported Thompson’s cause of death as “undetermined.” The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding Thompson’s death and approved an additional expenditure of $500,000 to address the infestation of bed bugs, lice, and other vermin within the jail.
