Family members charged with murder after abandoning newborn in Iowa ditch

A mother and grandfather have been charged with first-degree murder after a newborn baby was found dead in a ditch in Iowa. The mother, Megan K. Staude, told police the child was born at home and was still alive when she put him in a trash bag with the help of her father, Rodney A. Staude. The Staudes initially told police the baby died on the way to the hospital after it was born, but later confessed to abandoning the baby.
