Fatal Shooting Near Powell Street BART Station in San Francisco.

A man was fatally shot near Powell and Market streets in San Francisco on Thursday night. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and died there shortly after. Police swarmed the Powell Street BART Station after the incident, and witnesses told The Chronicle that the victim was apparently shot in front of the mall, ran down the stairs into the plaza near the station and collapsed. The Powell entrance to the BART station was closed as police conducted their probe. No suspect was arrested and the shooting remains an active investigation.
