The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office has approved murder charges against a suspect, identified as 30-year-old Tyrone Tunnell, in the fatal stabbing of a security guard at the Macy's department store in Center City. The incident occurred after Tunnell was stopped for attempting to steal hats but was let go. He returned later and fatally stabbed one guard, while another guard intervened and was injured. Tunnell was apprehended at a SEPTA station and has a history of arrests for theft, robbery, and drug offenses. Macy's, which has experienced high levels of retail theft, has temporarily closed the store.
