Father of Apalachee shooter sentenced to 15 years, potential release in 2039

Colin Gray, father of Apalachee High School shooter Colt Gray, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of involuntary manslaughter and multiple counts of child cruelty; prosecutors said he bought the rifle and failed to secure it. He has a maximum release date of September 5, 2039 and was moved to the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson. Colt Gray, 16, who carried out the 2024 shooting, previously pleaded guilty to killing four people and injuring nine and received a life sentence without parole.
