Florida Woman Escapes Months-Long Captivity, Ending Reign of Violent Terror

A woman who had been allegedly held captive and abused by a man in Florida managed to escape when he briefly left her unattended at a Walgreens, leading to his arrest. The suspect, Walter Medina, had reportedly met the victim while she was panhandling and then became violent after initially providing her with food and narcotics. The woman suffered severe injuries during her more than two months in captivity, and Medina has been charged with attempted second degree murder, armed kidnapping, and other offenses.
