"Former DSS Case Managers Arrested for Abandoning Child at Gas Station"

Two former Department of Social Services (DSS) case managers in Spartanburg, South Carolina, are facing charges after allegedly abandoning a teen boy at a gas station. The incident occurred when one of the case managers took the teen inside the store to use the restroom, but then left the store and returned to the vehicle without the teen. The teen, who is a foreign national with no family in South Carolina, was left waiting at the store until the employee called 911. The case managers later misled their supervisor, claiming that the teen had run off. The DSS has confirmed that the two case managers are no longer employed with the department.
