Former Mississippi Officers Admit Guilt in Racist Assault on Black Men During Raid

Six former white law enforcement officers in Mississippi, known as the "Goon Squad," pleaded guilty to a racist assault on two Black men during a home raid. The officers entered the house without a warrant, assaulting the men with a sex object and using stun guns and other objects to abuse them. One victim was shot in the mouth during a "mock execution" gone wrong. The officers conspired to plant and tamper with evidence instead of providing medical aid. The officers face civil rights charges and have been linked to other violent encounters with Black men. The victims have filed a federal civil rights lawsuit seeking $400 million in damages.
