Former officers charged in Tyre Nichols' death face court appearances and requests for separate trials.

Five former Memphis Police officers charged with second-degree murder in the death of Tyre Nichols appeared in court for a status hearing that lasted about 10 minutes. Attorneys for four of the accused officers have filed a motion in federal court to pause their civil case until their criminal case is resolved. They are also requesting that certain evidence, such as additional body cam footage, pole camera footage, and witness statements, not be released to the public. Nichols' siblings attended the hearing and spoke with reporters.
