Homeowner defends property, fatally shooting suspected burglar in Blount County

A suspected burglar, identified as 29-year-old William Cody Vaughn, was shot and killed by a homeowner in Blount County, Alabama. The homeowner confronted Vaughn after discovering him inside his personal vehicle, unaware that his wife had called 911 about the attempted burglary. When Vaughn brandished a firearm, the homeowner shot him in self-defense. Despite lifesaving efforts, Vaughn died at the hospital. Authorities do not expect any charges to be filed in connection with Vaughn's death.
