Hostage Standoff Ends in Suspect's Death

A suspect wanted for murder in Ohio and suspected of multiple felony offenses in Kentucky was involved in a hostage situation at a Speedway in Ceredo, West Virginia. After negotiations with a hostage negotiator, two hostages were released, but the suspect requested a blanket for the third hostage. When the suspect exited the store, shots were fired by the State Police Special Response Team, resulting in the suspect being transported to a nearby hospital where he later died. No officers were injured, and the third hostage was safe. The investigation is ongoing.
