Interstate 80 Incident: Arrests Made in Fatal Shooting and Abuse of Corpse

A man has been charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse after a body was found in a stalled car on Interstate 80 in Iowa. Jihad Abdul-Malik Gasaway, the driver of the car, was taken into custody and charged with the felonies. The victim, Kemp Xavior Sherrod Harriel, was found slumped over the passenger seat and was declared dead at the scene. Gasaway allegedly did not inform law enforcement about the presence of the victim and did not call for medical assistance. The medical examiner determined that Harriel died from two gunshot wounds to the chest. Gasaway is currently held in custody on a $50,000 bond.
