Jan. 6 Capitol Rioter Fires at Deputies and FBI Before Surrendering

Jan. 6 defendant Nathan Pelham, who was wanted on misdemeanor charges for his role in the Capitol breach, fired a 9mm pistol at sheriff's deputies during a wellness check at his home, triggering a lengthy standoff. Pelham's father had warned that he was a suicide risk and possessed a gun. He was eventually arrested on a felony charge for firing at the deputies, which could result in years of jail time. Pelham has a 2003 Texas felony conviction, which barred him from being in possession of a firearm.
