Judge halts charges in Trump National Golf Course arrest as veteran Marine undergoes mental health review

A Torrance judge suspended charges against Marine veteran Jeanine Taele after a pretrial evaluation found him not mentally fit to stand trial, sending him to Hollywood’s Mental Health Court. Taele was arrested at Trump National Golf Course Los Angeles in Rancho Palos Verdes with a loaded 9 mm pistol, binoculars, and a badge reading “security protection agent,” and investigators recovered about 200 pages of writings including schedules for Melania Trump and the president’s Secret Service, plus survival-off-the-grid plans. Bail was not set, and Taele will remain jailed until a Sept. 9 hearing as his mental health is assessed; prosecutors noted a prior AT&T store robbery arrest. His attorney said it’s too early to determine how mental health may affect the defense, noting his veteran status and support from family.
