Kansas Couple's Six-Year Scam: Living with Dead Parent to Collect Retirement Benefits

A Kansas couple has been accused of keeping a dead parent's body hidden in their home for over six years in order to continue collecting his retirement benefits, totaling approximately $215,000. The deceased, Mike Carroll, had been receiving benefits since 2008, but his death in 2016 was allegedly concealed, allowing his daughter and son-in-law to access and spend the funds. The couple now faces charges of wire fraud and theft of government funds, with potential prison sentences of up to 20 years if convicted.
