Massive Fentanyl Seizure in San Francisco Could Have Devastated City

California Highway Patrol has seized over 4.2 kilograms of fentanyl in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood and surrounding areas, along with other drugs, resulting in 92 felony and misdemeanor arrests. The amount of fentanyl seized is enough to potentially kill 2.1 million people, according to a press release from Governor Gavin Newsom's office. The operation is part of a joint public safety effort to tackle the fentanyl and opioid crisis in the city, without criminalizing those addicted to drugs. Fentanyl is the leading driver of drug overdose deaths in the United States and San Francisco.
