McCurtain County Officials Under Fire for Recorded Conversations and Boasts of Violence

Newly released audio reveals that the Oklahoma sheriff who was caught on tape talking about killing reporters and lynching Black people also boasted about physically confronting the local district attorney and threatening to “whoop his ass.” The recording was made by a newspaper reporter's father and fellow reporter to gather evidence that the McCurtain County commissioners were illegally engaging in county business after public meetings were over. The recording also reveals that the county officials were talking about how to spend taxpayer money after the public meeting was over.
