The death of Irvo Otieno, a Black man who died at a Virginia hospital, has been ruled a homicide caused by "asphyxia with restraints." Video footage shows officers and medical staff piling on top of Otieno during his final moments. His family and attorneys claim he was in the midst of a mental health crisis. Seven Virginia Sheriff's deputies and three hospital workers have been charged with second-degree murder. The prosecutor's office has said deputies took Otieno to the hospital to be admitted, but instead, he died due to excessive restraint.
