Minnesota man indicted for stealing iconic 'Wizard of Oz' ruby slippers

A Minnesota man has been indicted for allegedly stealing a pair of ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in "The Wizard of Oz" from the Judy Garland Museum in 2005. The shoes were valued at $1 million at the time of the theft, but are now estimated to be worth around $3.5 million. The slippers were recovered in a sting operation by the FBI and police in 2018. The man faces one count of theft of an object of cultural heritage from the care, custody or control of a museum, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison if convicted.
