Missing Volusia County Teacher Found Dead in Car

The car of Robert Heikka, a teacher who went missing in 2020, was found in a canal near Pioneer Trail in New Smyrna Beach, and a body was found inside. The identity of the body has not been confirmed yet, but Heikka's family has been notified. Volunteer search teams, Recon Dive Recovery and Sunshine State Sonar, worked to find the car. The spot where the car was found is just a few miles from Heikka's home. The investigation is ongoing.
