Mississippi Man Charged with Threatening to Kill Senator Wicker

A Mississippi man, William Carl Sappington, has been charged with threatening to kill Senator Roger Wicker and has been denied bond by a federal judge. Sappington has a history of violent offenses and failing to abide by the conditions of release. He reportedly went to the senator's cousin's residence and threatened to kill Wicker because of an incident he had with law enforcement in 2014. Sappington was arrested for aggravated assault of his brother in 2014 and was released from prison in November for theft of property worth more than $10,000.
