Missouri man executed for double jailer murder in escape attempt.

Michael Tisius, who killed two jailers in a failed attempt to help an acquaintance escape from a rural jail in Missouri, was executed by lethal injection on Tuesday. Tisius was convicted of the 2000 killings of Leon Egley and Jason Acton at the Randolph County Jail. His lawyers had urged the US Supreme Court to block the execution, alleging that a juror at a sentencing hearing was illiterate, in violation of Missouri law. The court rejected that motion.
