Mistrial in Clancy case leaves retrial question hanging

A Plymouth Superior Court jury declared a mistrial in Lindsay Clancy’s murder case after an 11-1 split, leaving prosecutors to decide whether to retry her for killing their three children. Patrick Clancy called the prospect of another trial “extraordinarily painful,” as the defense noted a holdout juror’s doubts about reasonable doubt. Judge William Sullivan signaled the retrial should come sooner rather than later, with a status hearing and defense Rule 25 motion scheduled for Sept. 29.
