"Multiple Inmates Hospitalized in Tennessee Jail Drug Overdose Incident"

Eight female inmates in Putnam County, Tennessee, were hospitalized after allegedly snorting drugs smuggled into the jail by two other inmates. The drugs, a mixture of fentanyl and heroin, were hidden in body cavities. The inmates involved distributed the drugs to others in their pod, resulting in overdoses and near deaths. Despite strip searches during booking, the drugs were not initially detected. All individuals involved have been charged with simple possession, while the smugglers face additional charges including attempted second-degree murder.
