"New Charges Expected for Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Suspect"

Rex Heuermann, the prime suspect in the "Gilgo Four" slayings, is expected to be charged with a fourth count of murder for the death of Maureen Brainard-Barnes. He was previously charged with the murders of three other women whose remains were found near Gilgo Beach. The new charges are expected to be announced by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney, and they are related to the 2007 disappearance of Brainard-Barnes. Heuermann was arrested in July after DNA evidence linked him to the case, and his arrest follows a years-long investigation into the discovery of multiple sets of human remains near Gilgo Beach.
