Sayfullo Saipov, who was convicted of killing eight people and seriously injuring 18 others in a terrorist attack on a New York bike path in 2017, has been sentenced to life in prison. More than 20 people who lost relatives or suffered physical injuries in the attack spoke at the sentencing hearing, describing the crushing pain and sadness they have experienced. Saipov, who was motivated by devotion to the Islamic State, was sentenced to 10 terms of life in prison plus 260 years. The judge described the conduct in the case as among the worst he had ever seen.
