Nine injured in downtown Tucson shooting; suspect in custody after officer-involved confrontation

Nine people were critically injured and a man was taken into custody after a shooting outside a downtown Tucson business around 2 a.m. A confrontation between two groups led to gunfire; an officer shot the fleeing suspect, who was hospitalized in life-threatening condition along with the victims. No officers were hurt. Detectives from the Tucson Police Department and the Pima Regional Critical Incident Team are investigating the incident, and Mayor Regina Romero called for action on gun violence.
