NY State Trooper Charged with Manslaughter in Fatal Shooting After High-Speed Chase

New York State Trooper Anthony Nigro IV has been charged with first- and second-degree manslaughter in the death of James Huber, an unarmed man who was shot after a high-speed highway chase. Nigro pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance. Body camera footage shows Nigro approaching Huber's car with his gun drawn and ordering him to get out before shooting him twice. The case is being prosecuted by the attorney general's Office of Special Investigation, and Nigro faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
