"Off-duty South Carolina Officer Charged with Murder in Chick-fil-A Parking Lot Shooting"

An off-duty police officer in South Carolina has been charged with murder after shooting a man in a fast food restaurant parking lot following a fight. The officer claimed he shot the man out of fear of being trapped under the moving vehicle, but state agents reported that he had threatened to shoot the man if he tried to leave. The victim, Michael O’Neal, did not have a weapon and was not a threat when he was killed. The officer, Anthony DeLustro, had worked in law enforcement for over 20 years and faces 30 years to life in prison if convicted.
