Ohio Woman's College Secret Leads to Fatal Matricide

Sydney Powell, a 23-year-old woman from Ohio, was convicted of murdering her mother after her parents discovered she had been expelled from college for poor grades. Sydney bludgeoned her mother with a frying pan and stabbed her multiple times. Her defense argued that she suffered from schizophrenia and was not aware that her actions were wrong at the time. However, the jury rejected the insanity defense. Sydney is scheduled to be sentenced on September 28 and could face a maximum of life in prison with the possibility of parole in 15 years.
