Oklahoma Officials Caught on Tape Discussing Violence and Racism

An Oklahoma sheriff's office claims that a newspaper's audio recording in which the sheriff and others are reportedly heard discussing killing two journalists and hanging Black people was illegal and predicted felony charges will be filed. The recording was made on March 6 when a voice-activated recorder was left inside the room after a county commissioner's meeting. The recording has sparked outrage and protests, with Oklahoma's GOP Gov. Kevin Stitt and state Rep. Eddy Dempsey calling for Clardy and others to resign. The FBI and the Department of Justice have also been called to investigate.
