Police Fatally Shoot Homeowner in New Mexico After Responding to Wrong Address.

New Mexico State Police are investigating after officers responded to the wrong address and fatally shot the armed homeowner, Robert Dotson. The officers approached 5305 Valley View Avenue instead of 5308 Valley View Avenue, where they were supposed to respond to a domestic violence incident. Body camera footage shows Dotson opening the screen door armed with a handgun as the officers were backing away. After the initial shooting, Dotson's wife fired from the doorway of the residence and officers returned fire. Dotson was pronounced dead at the scene.
