Police shootings lead to freeway closures in Los Angeles.

A man was shot and killed by Monterey Park police officers on the 10 Freeway in East Los Angeles after allegedly fleeing from officers in a white BMW that was used in a robbery. The suspect fired at officers with a semiautomatic handgun from inside his vehicle before his car became disabled and he attempted to run away while still firing on officers. Three officers fired back and struck the suspect, who died at the scene. The shooting investigation closed the 10 Freeway in both directions, causing significant backups. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is investigating the shooting.
