Pregnant Hospital Worker Loses Baby After Being Punched by Texas Woman, Who Now Faces Murder Charge

A Texas woman, Cheri Akil, has been charged with murder after allegedly punching a pregnant hospital worker in the stomach, causing the loss of her pregnancy. The suspect was an inmate of the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office and had to be restrained because she was potentially suicidal. The victim was immediately taken to a trauma unit for treatment, but an ultrasound revealed that the unborn child no longer had a pulse. Akil had been in custody for alleged credit card fraud before this new murder charge.
