San Francisco security guard cleared in fatal Walgreens shooting

The security guard who shot and killed a person inside a San Francisco Walgreens during a shoplifting incident has been released from jail after prosecutors declined to pursue charges, citing self-defense. The victim, 24-year-old Banko Brown, was a Black trans man who had been experiencing homelessness since he was 12 years old. Brown's loved ones held a rally demanding justice for his death and permanent housing for Black trans youth. San Francisco Mayor London Breed's office said the city has created programs to support trans communities and help people on the path to housing and stability.
