San Jose Police Union Executive Charged with Importing and Distributing Fentanyl and Other Opioids

The San Jose police union's executive director, Joanne Marian Segovia, has been charged with attempting to import illegal synthetic opioid drugs from overseas in a scheme to distribute them in the U.S. She is suspected of using her home and office computers, and even the union's UPS account, to order and distribute thousands of opioids and other pills. The union president said this is a sad example of the scourge of drugs, but not a reflection of the San Jose Police Department itself. If convicted, Segovia faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.
