SC school shooter seeks mercy, but teacher and principal want life sentence upheld.

Jesse Osborne, who is serving a life sentence without parole for killing a first-grader on a South Carolina playground when he was 14, is asking a judge to reconsider his sentence so he can eventually get out of prison. Osborne's lawyer argued that the judge didn't fully consider a psychologist's report that Osborne's actions were due to abuse and that he can be rehabilitated. However, the teacher, parent, and principal of the school where the shooting occurred all spoke out against Osborne's release, and prosecutors said the victim's family wants him to remain in prison. Osborne is asking for a 30-year minimum sentence followed by 15 years for shooting at other children and lifetime monitoring by GPS after his release.
