Suspect Dead, Officer Injured in Nashville Shooting

A Nashville police officer was shot while responding to a report of an armed man breaking into vehicles. The suspect, identified as Delama Casimir, died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The officer, Donovan Coble, is in critical yet stable condition after being shot in the abdomen. Coble was recently named Officer of the Year by a local organization and is part of a pilot program aimed at diverting people in crisis to intervention and resources instead of the legal system. The shooting halted traffic during rush hour and is one of 28 police shooting investigations in Tennessee in 2023.
