Tesla Driver Accused of Dragging Philadelphia Police Officer Surrenders

Eddy Brito-Almonte, the driver of a Tesla who dragged a Philadelphia police officer several hundred feet after a traffic stop, has surrendered to police. He is facing charges of aggravated assault, fleeing police, and other related offenses. The incident occurred when the officer noticed a handgun in the Tesla and reached in to grab it, prompting the driver to suddenly reverse and drag the officer. The officer suffered scrapes and bruises but is expected to recover. Brito-Almonte did not have a license to carry a firearm and had no outstanding warrants at the time of the incident.
